We’ve had the privilege of working with the very talented Rachel Crick before when we photographed her for her first album release, and so we were so excited to hear from her about another upcoming album with another very talented musician! She and Jeff Calhoun decided to collaborate on this beautiful project featuring his incredibly guitar playing and her always lovely violin abilities. Much of their recording for the album has been at the local Grace Episcopal Church, which just so happens to perfectly embody the feel of their music, so they decided to start off the session there! This kind of a photographic style isn’t what we typically do, but we love it! The quietness that the images evoke is so perfect for the hauntingly gentle and sacred songs the album includes. Plus these two just radiate stillness and grace in their demeanors, so it wasn’t too difficult to capture :)
After we finished photographing inside the church, we took some more pictures around downtown, including some at a recently destroyed historic building. Such a terrible loss for our community, but a perfect metaphor for Rachel and Jeff’s album- making something beautiful from the rubble. As soon as we began photographing there Jeff excitedly saw the symbolism and knew it would make a great addition to their album. We’re so thankful not only that we have a Creator who makes beauty from destruction, but that Rachel and Jeff have decided to bring glory to Him through their music. We’re honored to have been a part of the process!
