For the past 3 years we have attended a Christ centered retreat for married couples who are in business together as photographers (I mean how awesomely specific is that?!) called CONNECT, and every year we come away completely rejuvenated and so ready to take on the year. We grow closer to God, one another, and learn so many incredible little (and sometimes huge!) tips and ideas on how to run an even better business! Plus we get to meet tons of other amazing couples who are in the same place that we are; running a business together! Whether they’re our age and live an hour away, or are twice our age and live across the country, we all have this amazing and crazy thing in common, and it’s so cool to be able to learn new things from each and every one of them. It’s just such a wonderful experience and seems to get better every year. And since this was a kind of “baby moon” for the two of us before our precious little one gets here in October, we really tried to soak up every second!
Of course, we have to mention the breathtaking location of this retreat; Winshape at Berry College. This beautiful place is honestly so soothing and relaxing on it’s own. As soon as you walk up to it, you just want to stay there forever. It is resting in the middle of 26,000 acres of lush, heavenly fields and woods with tons of wildlife wandering around. The retreat itself is simply a collection of revamped old dairy barns! It’s just the most serene and organic place you could imagine. The last day we even wandered down to some nearby fields and got to watch some horses and baby colts running around! Being there on its own is enough to make you leave feeling refreshed, so having tons of wonderful couples come together there to help one another grow and learn is just a truly amazing experience that we’re always so honored to be a part of! All we’re saying is that if you get the chance to go to a retreat at this place, don’t skip it! :)
One thing that we really took away from Connect this year was the desire to be bold. Sometimes in life we lose confidence in ourselves and get so bogged down trying to take on everything in life on our own that we just start to wear thin and lose faith. But the wonderful thing that we remembered is that we don’t have to do it all on our own. We don’t have to be confident in OUR ability to handle everything life is throwing at us because we don’t have that ability! If our faith and trust is in the One who does have the ability, then we can boldly do what He leads us to do without worrying if we’re capable of it. We’re never capable on our own, but in Him, we can do all things. If He has begun a good work in us, then He is faithful to complete it :) So we can boldly do the things that He leading us to do without any fear. How amazing is that?
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” -Philippians 1:6
Aaannd of course we took some of each other too :) And sweet baby Hodge! 15 weeks :)We can’t fully describe how amazing this place is and how grateful we are for each person that attended! We feel so blessed to have been a part of this incredible journey.
